Lana Del Rey has been stealing the spotlight lately. The ‘Summertime Sadness’ singer has recently been tasked with entertaining guests and singing at the Kim Kardashian/Kanye West wedding, which brought her a lot of attention (and money). At the same time, Lana’s brand new album Ultraviolence has just been released this week, and her old fans love every bit of it. Ultaviolence is the second official album from Lana Del Rey, the first being released in 2012 under the name ‘Born to Die’.
A huge number of Youtube videos have already emerged, and it has been a difficult task to shut the unofficial, copy-right infringing videos down. Lana’s newly released single from the album, ‘Shades of Cool’, has also received a video, which was launched just two days ago on Youtube. The video already has well above 2 million views, and the numbers are going up fast. Ultraviolence has been critically acclaimed so far, showing off the coming of age of the artist, with songs dealing with extremely profound issues. We especially love ‘Old Money’, a song that hasn’t been getting too much attention yet.

Music enthusiasts will be quick to recognize some of the key influences Lana had in her new album. The artist, a well-known fan of Nancy Sinatra, has clearly drawn inspiration from Nancy Sinatra’s work, especially from the 60’s, when the artist collaborated with country singer Lee Hazlewood. If Lana’s past trackrecord is any indication, we can expect her new songs to be entering the global Top 40 charts soon enough. Her songs ‘Summertime Sadness’ and the theme song for The Great Gatsby, ‘Young and Beautiful’ have already made it there after all. If you haven’t already, check out her new album and consider picking it up. It’s definitely a step forward from her previous album, ‘Born to die’, and it’s an album worth owning and listening to.
