A dozen new Google Glass apps launch ahead of I/O 2014

Twelve brand new Glassware have been released today in preparation for Google I/O 2014. The event is just around the corner so the dozen fresh apps are just what we need to get us even more pumped up for the upcoming developers conference. But first things first, what exactly is Glassware? Well, the term refers to the web of services used by Google Glass so they’re basically apps for the wearable device. The new additions that were just released by the company are useful for a wide variety of activities such as listening to your favorite music, keeping up to date with the results of the World Cup or even stargazing on a quiet summer night.

We’ll group these apps into three main categories, which should make it easier for you to learn more about them. The first category includes active lifestyle and sports related Glassware. Runtastic is a Google Glass app that serves as your personal trailer and features a collection of workouts that will help you stay in shape. Next, we have 94Fifty Basketball, an app most useful for those who take Basketball seriously and are trying to constantly improve at the game. On the other hand, if you prefer to just watch sports instead of playing them, Google Glass has just what you need. The Goal.com Glassware will keep you updated with everything that’s happening in the world of football (soccer). Last but no least in this category, we have the self-explanatory Zombies, Run! app. This basically transforms running into an adventure game as it makes it seem like you’re being chased by zombies.

Another category of new apps features Glassware that should please all the music lovers out there. These include Shazam, an app that can recognize music that’s playing around you, MusicXmatch, an app that can do this as well, but it also display the track’s lyrics, and Livestream, Glassware that allows you to broadcast concerts in real time. Then we have the exploration category, which includes Google Glass apps such as Duolingo, GuidiGo, and Star Chart. The first one makes it easier for you to learn a new language while the second app serves as your personal tour guide. Meanwhile, if you are looking for something more “out there”, you can try Star Chart, a new app that lets you look at starts, planets, and constellations.

Finally, we also have a couple of miscellaneous apps. Allthecooks was already available to Google Glass, but it received an overhaul recently and now comes with more features. The last Glassware goes by the name of The Guardian an keeps you up to date with all the latest news and stories. All these apps and many more can be found here so go check them out and tell us what you think about them in the comments section below.
