Pharrell has done it again, releasing a new video of almost 3 minutes and a half long, with beats that make everyone want to get up and dance along! “Come and get it Bae” is the sixth song on his second album, “GIRL”, released this year. The music video starts with the message: “BEAUTY HAS NO EXPIRATION DATE”, written in red capital letters. Shortly after the message disappears, various young women start dancing, having two mirrors behind them, and random people observing their moves. Pharrell records the dances on a camera, showing the black and white footage as well.
Miley Cyrus, who is featured on the song, appears on a sofa, pouring sugar in a yellow smiley face mug. Until the end of the video she dances with Pharrell, and also strikes a couple of poses. Cyrus and Williams collaborated while producing tracks for her fourth album, “Bangerz”, in 2013. By July 2014, the song reached number 58 on Billboard Hot 100 and sold roughly 115 000 copies in the United States alone. Also, in May 2014, he performed the song at the iHeartRadio Awards, where he also received an award for innovation.
Pharrell Williams created a real phenomenon on social media when he released the single “Happy”. The first 24 hour long video caught everyone’s attention, encouraging everyone to post similar videos from their current location, around the globe. The song was featured on the Pixar film “Despicable me 2”. After the success of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” in 2013, for which he contributed with vocals, “Happy” is certainly one of 2014’s hit. “GIRL” has been released through Williams’ label I Am Other and Columbia Records, and features artists such as Kelly Osbourne, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Daft Punk, JoJo, Alicia Keys, Tori Kelly and Leah LaBelle. It is number one in twelve countries, and it also contains the single “Marilyn Monroe”, which has a similar looking video as “Come and get it Bae”.
