After taking an 8-year break from music, Irish song-writer and singer Damien Rice announced that he will be releasing his third studio album, following up ‘O’, his debut album that reached number 8 on the UK album charts and ‘9’, his second album that came out in 2006. The new album is entitled ‘My Favorite Faded Fantasy’, it’s produced by Rick Rubin and it will be available starting November 11.
The studio album includes 8 new tracks and it was recorded in Los Angeles and Reykjavik. Rice declared that he chose to work with Rick Rubin despite the fact that he knew almost nothing about the producer and felt really comfortable and open around him while working on his new record. ‘My Favorite Faded Fantasy’ includes some of the songs the folk star performed this year at some of his shows, such as ‘The Box’ and ‘The Greatest Bastard’. The first single off the new album debuted on Zane Lowe’s show on BBC 1 and is now available on iTunes. A second single entitled ‘I don’t want to change you’ will be released at the end of October.

After a long absence, Damien Rice declared to Hot Press that he regrets profoundly that he had to end his collaboration with Lisa Hannigan with whom he worked on his previous album ‘9’ in 2006. He also mentioned that he wouldn’t have released that album and he would have taken off a few of the songs. He was really attached to Lisa, saying that he would give up all the success and his whole musical experience to still have her in his life.
Damien stated the new record is a bit different than what he did before, he is writing about different things at the moment and the songs come from a different place.
