Pink Floyd’s new album revealed

‘The Endless River’ is Pink Floyd’s first album to be released in 20 years, after ‘The Division Bell’ in 1994. This is mostly an instrumental album, except for a song called ‘Louder than words’ which features Polly Samson, David Gilmour’s wife, guitarist for Pink Floyd. The album will be released by Parlophone and Columbia Records and is the first one after the death of keyboardist Richard Wright and the departure of Roger Waters in 1985.

‘The Endless River’ is mostly composed of instrumental and ambient music. The band worked on the album during 2013 and 2014 at David Gilmour’s Astoria recording studio. The creator of the cover image is Ahmed Emad Eldin, digital artist from Egypt who is 18 years old. David Gilmour, together with drummer Nick Mason, came up with the idea of a new album. They started by clearing up through music recorded in the past with keyboardist Rick Wright, who passed away in 2008. And so, they made a selection of their favorite unreleased tracks and spent the last 2 years in the studio re-recording the music. Roger Water, former bassist for the band, did not implicate himself with the creation of the new album. Gilmour also stated that it felt right to make the reworked songs available for the fans.

Pink Floyd broke up back in 1994, after they released ‘The Division Bell’. They continued to perform together from time to time but there was no discussion of a reunion. The album will be released this October and there might be a possible tour coming-up but this is just rumors.
