British jazz star Jamie Cullum revealed details of his new studio album, ‘Interlude’. This counts as the sixth album in his musical career. It will be released October 6 through Island Records and it features collaborations with jazz vocalist Laura Mvula and songwriter Gregory Porter. ‘Interlude’ includes twelve brand new tracks which remind us of the good old jazzy days. The album is produced by Ben Lamdin and was recorded in three days, alongside other twelve musicians in just one room. The first single off the album is ‘Don’t let me be misunderstood’ and is to be released September 21.
Jamie Cullum, aged 35, is an English jazz singer and song-writer. He is mainly a vocalist and pianist but he also uses other instruments in his concerts, such as guitar and drums. He is also the host of a weekly jazz show on BBC Radio 2 since April 2010. The show is airing every Tuesday from 19:00. Cullum talks proudly about ‘Interlude’ saying that this is his first proper jazz record, mentioning that he didn’t do anything like this before. While recording the album, everything went naturally and smoothly, the way it should. He thinks of the album more like a celebration of all the people he met during his show on BBC Radio 2. Jamie Cullum, who is the best-selling jazz artist in the UK, is really excited about his work and stated that all the songs came out of spontaneity and enjoyment.
