Johnny Greenwood, guitarist at Radiohead, announced on Saturday at Anne Hobbes’s Music Show on BBC Radio 6 that Radiohead will soon get back in the studio and start working on a new album. This will be the ninth album of the acclaimed band, following-up ‘The king of limbs’, released 3 years ago.
Radiohead are a British rock band comprised of Thom Yorke (lead vocalist, guitar, piano), Johnny Greenwood (lead guitarist, keyboards and other instruments), Collin Greenwood (bass), Phil Selway (drums, percussion) and Ed O’Brien (guitarist, backing vocalist). The band debuted in 1992 with their first single ‘Creep’ leading to their first album ‘Pablo Honey’ in 1993. However, they became famous once they released their second album, ‘The Bends’ and gained international fame with ‘OK Computer’, their third record. The band sold around 30 million records all over the world. In 2005, ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine included both Johnny Greenwood and Ed O’Brien in their list of the greatest guitarists of all time and Thom Yorke in their greatest singers list. In addition to that, ‘Rolling Stone’ readers voted Radiohead as being the second best artist of the 2000s.

The new record will be the ninth studio album, after they took a break in 2011 and after they completed the tour for ‘The king of limbs’. Greenwood went on with his film scores while Thom Yorke was touring with Atoms for Peace, his experimental rock and electronic group. Also, drummer Philip Selway is expected to release his second solo album this October. The band reunited this summer to talk about the details of their new album. Despite their returning in the studio, there is still no clue to when the album will be actually released. The band members began emailing ideas on how the album should look like and they are planning to start working soon on the new project.
