What was supposed to be the happiest night of their lives, turned out to be the most gruesome. Kelly Ecker, a nurse and George Scott Samson, an anesthesiologist got married on Saturday, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Sadly, their wedding day ended in a tragic manner. Samson shot his wife and hours after killed himself in a horrific murder-suicide incident. Wedding guests later declared that the couple seemed very tense. They ignored each other most of the time and did not speak to each other. Vigo County Sheriff Chief Deputy Clark Cottom declared: “Some guests are telling us the bride and groom didn’t speak to each other at the reception”.
After the reception, some of the guests were invited back to the couple’s home. Soon after the guests had left, a 911 call was made by Kelly Ecker. The transcript shows she was crying and was seriously fearing for her life. In a second call to 911, Kelly said her husband was beating her and that he had a gun. The third time she called, her voice showed more distress and soon after gunshots were heard. During the incident, there were three other members of the family present in the house: an elderly male relative of Samson’s, an elderly woman and the couple’s 10 year old child. He was the one who took the officers to the bedroom where Kelly had been shot multiple times. The 10 year old child was in the bedroom with his mother when the incident took place. He was not harmed during the murder-suicide incident. All the other persons found inside the house during the murder-suicide incident were unharmed.

When the police arrived at the house, Samson hadn’t yet committed suicide. The elder man present in the house declared that Samson ran to another part of the house in order to get more ammunition. Afterwards he ran down to the basement. The house was immediately surrounded. Since the couple’s home was located near a forest, police officers feared that he might escape. As soon as Samson was located in the basement, police officers immediately realized there was not much left to do. He had committed suicide. His body was found near his gun cabinet. Samson was fascinated by guns and he had a federal firearms license. So far, it is not clear what caused this murder-suicide incident and why the murderer acted with such rage.
