Google Nexus 9 to be Unveiled Next Week

Pre-orders for the HTC built new Google tablet model, the Nexus 9, might start as early as next Wednesday (October 15th), and large scale sales could start on November 3rd, according to technology news blog Bright Side of News cited by Cnet. The report, citing anonymous sources, tells about the nVidia Tegra K1 chip to be present in the device that is set to sell for $399.

It has been rumored for quite some time that Google has chosen HTC Corporation, a well known Taiwanese manufacturer of smartphones, to build its latest flagship product, the 9″ Nexus 9 tablet. Earlier this month a series of allegedly leaked photos of the Nexus 9 began circulating around the internet, and other rumors have started speaking of a planned launch of the new product next week, alongside Google’s latest mobile operating system version, the much anticipated Android L.

Being the manufacturer behind the Google Nexus 9 would be a great achievement for the Taiwanese manufacturer, whose product portfolio has significantly slimmed down in the last few years. Still, it would make it incredibly busy, considering the recent launch of its new flagship phone, the HTC One M8, and the imminent release of its latest gadget, the RE Camera. The rumors could be true, but also a misinformation with a hint of truth behind them, though.

Last week a rumor has appeared in a local Taiwanese publication called Focus Taiwan, citing HTC executive Jack Tong about the Nexus 9 going on sale in Taiwan by the end of the year. Later a HTC spokesperson denied this information, confirming at the same time that HTC will make an attempt to launch its own tablet PC after an absence of one year, but pointing out that there were no brands or product names mentioned by the talkative executive.
