iPad Air 2 Leaked Photos Show A8X Processor

Just days ahead of Apple’s next press event, where the Cupertino-based giant is rumored to announce its new, larger iPad Air – leaks about the supposed new tablet computer just keep pouring. The latest in the line is a series of photos published by Apple.club.tw, a Taiwanese website, showing the hardware components of the new Apple tablet, including its new Touch ID sensor and its CPU, cited by Tomsguide.com.

The photos published by the Taiwanese website show a logic board very similar to the one in Apple’s previous iPad, only with a CPU labeled A8X and something with the appearance of a micro-SIM card reader. Another picture published by the website shows a new version of Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint reader. The image also hints on the new tablet’s outer frame, suggesting that the new tablet will retain its predecessor’s 9.7″ screen diagonal. According to the observations at Apple Insider, the tablet’s cover and its capacitive touchscreen are separate, indicating that the new iPad Air 2 will not have a laminated display.

It has been months since the first rumors about a Touch-ID enabled iPad Air with an A8 processor have started circulating over the internet. A software developer has recently uncovered a string in Apple’s iOS 8 beta that reads “Pay with iPad using Touch ID,” suggesting that the new iPad Air will be able to authorize Apple Pay payments just like the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. Anyway, there are just a few days left until – hopefully – Apple will end the rumors during the press event on the 16th, where it will allegedly uncover the new iPad Mini, the new iPad Air, and a larger, more powerful iPad Pro, aimed especially on business and corporate users, among others. According to the rumors, Apple prepares to launch its mobile payment system Apple Pay just a few days later. Well, all that will be revealed this week.
