Google Nexus – Direct Competitor to iPhone 6 Plus?

After weeks of rumors and speculations the news is finally out: Google has revealed its new Nexus smartphone, a 5.9″ device with that plans to compete with Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus for high-end users. Besides the new Nexus 6 smartphone Google has also presented its new tablet computer – the Nexus 9 – and Nexus Player, a set-top box. All new products presented by the Mountain View based tech giant are priced in line or slightly below the competing products by Apple.

Let’s take a look at the latest Google Nexus flagship phone, and see how much of the rumors of the past few weeks have proven to be true. The Nexus 6 was built by Motorola Mobility, as the rumors stated. Make no mistake – Google doesn’t plan to sell millions of Nexus 6 phones in the days following the product’s launch, but – according to Mr. Sundar Pichai, Google’s Android, Chrome and Apps boss – to guide other leading smartphone manufacturers to build and release similar products.

Besides the much anticipated smartphone, Google has launched other new devices as well, like the Nexus 9 tablet, the Nexus Player – a set top box built by AsusTek Computer, that will connect to a TV and allow its users to stream movies through the new Android TV service over WiFi, and will also run Android games on larger screens.
