Another student died after the Washington school shooting, on Friday at the Marysville-Pilchuck High School . Three other injured students remain in the hospital. Four students got injured in the shooting incident, after a freshman opened fire in the high school cafeteria. The victim’s name is Gia Soriano, 14 years old. She had been in critical condition after suffering severe injuries to the head. She died at the Providence Regional Medical Center.
According to witnesses, Jaylen Fryberg, a popular freshman brought a gun to school on Friday and started shooting in the crowded cafeteria. He managed to kill one student at the scene and injured four others, before finally turning the gun on himself. The student who died on the scene was Zoe Galasso. The second student who died was Gia Soriano. She died on Sunday. In a statement, Gia Soriano’s family declared: “We are devastated by this senseless tragedy. Gia is our beautiful daughter and words cannot express how much we will miss her”. The family decided to help out others in need and agreed to donate Gia’s organs.
All of the other three Washington school shooting victims are in critical condition and remain hospitalized. Shaylee Chuckunaskit, 14 years old and Andrew Fryberg, 15 years old are both closely monitored. Nate Hatch, 14 years old is in serious condition, after sustaining the most severe injuries during the shooting. Andrew and Nate were both Jaylen’s cousins. According to Don Hatch, Nate’s grandfather, the three boys were close friends. They lived close to one another. Recently, they have all gone to a school dance together. On Sunday, students, parents and teachers gathered at the Marysville-Pilchuck High School gym to remember the victims of the shooting. According to Hatch, Jaylen had never been bullied or attacked. He said the shooting was something that happened out of the blue and that they do not know why. Hatch said he forgives Jaylen and he will visit his family. According to authorities who investigate the shooting incident, Jaylen had shot six times at a group of six people. The shooting was not aimless. He did not fire randomly, he shot at his friends. Witnesses described Jaylen’s face as calm, right after he took his gun out of a black backpack and started shooting.
