Hugh Jackman Diagnosed with Skin Cancer

The skin cancer diagnosis of Hugh Jackman is neither fresh news, nor a terribly terrifying one, for that matter. The on-screen undefeatable Wolverine has been diagnosed and treated for basal cell carcinoma, one of the mildest skin cancers (but which can lead to disfiguration) for 3 times in a single year. One of the actor’s representatives confirmed to E! News that Hugh Jackman had once more received medical attention for his on-growing type of cancer. He also implied that the consequences were not dire.

Hugh Jackman was subject to a medical intervention for skin cancer in November 2013, when cancerous tissue was removed from his nose. In May 2014, the actor underwent the same procedure, with promising results. Nonetheless, Hugh Jackman, aware and fighting his condition, confesses: “I’m realistic about the future and it’s more than likely that I’ll have at least one more but probably many more, which is not uncommon for an Aussie particularly from English stock growing up in Australia where I don’t remember ever being told to put sunscreen on.”

The sunscreen reference is no intruder in the declaration of Hugh Jackman. Since diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, he has done everything in his power to alert people about the importance of sunscreen, as a secret recipe to a long and healthy skin life. He posted numerous such references on social networks: “PLEASE! PLEASE! WEAR SUNSCREEN!” is a desperate cry of a man who desires his experience with the disease not to be repeated by him or by anyone else.

Even though the much appreciated Hugh Jackman underwent more than one medical intervention for skin cancer, his overall condition seems to be a positive, optimistic one: “But the beauty of this is that it’s all preventable, it’s just about getting proper check-ups. I can be a typical man, a little lazy, I couldn’t be bothered and now I’m not lazy at all.”
