Robin Williams is impossible to be distributed for any new role in cinematography, due to his abrupt suicide in August this year. Nonetheless, it is most disturbing that cinema-goers might not be offered the possibility to see one of the last movies casting the regretted actor.
Boulevard is a film in which Robin Williams plays the role of Mack Nolan, a middle aged, not so happily married man who finds his sexuality questionable as he falls in love with a gay prostitute. The movie is directed by Dito Montiel, has Doglas Soesbe as the writer and apart from Robin Williams, features actors such as Bob Odenkirk or Kathy Baker.
Although the filming of the production had ended before the death of Robin Williams, the lead, the movie is unlikely to be available for fans. “It’s really sad but it is looking impossible that Boulevard will ever see the light of day now”. […] “It has proved to be a struggle for it to find the support it needs to be released. The cast have tried, as have the crew. But for many reasons it is looking very unlikely”, a source informs The Mirror.
Hence, the theatrical release date is still a mystery, including for insiders. On the other hand, the premiere, which occurred on April 20, 2014 at the Tribeca Film Festival, was very well received by critics, as a review posted by Peter Debruge on Variey.com truthfully demonstrates. The international film critic considers dialogues in the movie to be part of Dito Montiel’s optimistic philosophy: ’’Maybe it’s never too late to start living the life you really want” (Bob Odenkirk as Winston).
The misfortune of Boulevard does not have to cast any shadow over the other three movies starring the legendary Robin Williams which will definitely be released according to timetable: A Merry Friggin’ Christmas (in the U.S.A. on 7 November), Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (in December) and Absolutely Anything, a delightful comedy.
