Suicide Squad is in the process of building-up the actor team for the DC Entertainment & Warner Bros of 2016. The previous post on the topic mentioned Jared Leto as a possible future Joker, and his status on the matter has not yet changed. Leto is not the only actor in negotiations for a part in Suicide Squad. The latest actor to join the project’s cast whirlpool is Jai Courtney, who might play Batman villain Deadshot, Variety announces.
Jai Courtney is an Australian born actor, whose movie projects for the following year sound quite promising. His cast in Terminator: Genisys as Kyle Reese is definitely a top list. Future filmography includes The Water Diviner, Insurgent or Man Down, and they are all set for release in 2015. If the latest supposition becomes reality, Suicide Squad will turn into the 2016 movie of the actor. Jai Courtney was previously cast in the TV Series Spartacus: War of the Damned as Varro (2010), in the movie A Good Day to Die Hard (2013) or Divergent (2014).
Apart from the already mentioned Jared Leto and Jai Courtney, Suicide Squad might add actors like Margot Robbie, Tom Hardy or Will Smith to its team. Robbie is being taken into consideration for the role of Harley Quinn, whereas Hardy might become Rick Flag. Will Smith’s part is yet unclear, but sources informed Variety that he is likely to play Digger Harkness a.k.a. Captain Boomerang. The position of Jai Courtney in Suicide Squad is debatable, as Deadline considers that ‘’Courtney might instead be cast in another of the DC comic book properties that WB has slotted through 2020’’.
Suicide Squad, also known under the name Task Force X, will have as director David Ayer and the release date is set for 5 August 2016. The story of the squad is based on a super-villain team, in which the antiheroes work for the United States Government and are further on reworded with commuted prison sentences.
