Benedict Cumberbatch’s Impersonations

A few days ago, MTV released a video starring Benedict Cumberbatch, which showed the actor’s amount of involvement in ‘’the imitation game’’. The answer to your question is no, you have not yet missed the release of the British actor’s awaited movie, as today is no 28 November. During a promotion interview for the Alan Turing movie – in which Cumberbatch stars along with Keira Knightley– the MTV host framed the perfect challenge for the lead: Cumberbatch was made to deliver impersonations of an exact number of fellow artists, for a pre-established time of sixty seconds.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who recently announced his engagement in a Jane Austin fashion, was ‘’faced with’’ eleven artists, who varied tremendously in more than one aspect. The utmost challenge was exactly this difference of age, style, catch-phrase, that little something which defines every artist (and every human being, for that matter). And of course, the imposed time of sixty seconds, which did not leave Benedict much time for debate was yet another drawback.

The Imitation Game star was given names such as John Malkovich – known for Being John Malkovich (1999), Professor Severus Snape, I mean… Alan Rickman, Sean Connery: ‘’I’m very excited to see what young Benedict does’’, Jack Nickholson’s: ‘’Why can’t we all see The Imitation Game?’’, uttered in a maddening voice and with eyes wide open, Tom Hiddleston – Yeah, Yeah… a great impersonation of an equally great impersonator, hilarious Owen Wilson and this is only half of the adventure. Furthermore, Cumberbatch became Michael Caine, recently seen in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar as Professor Brand, Christopher Walken and even DC Comics villain Bane, or another Interstellar actor, Matthew McConaughey. The last impersonation has been considered by media as ‘’uncanny’’. The British actor sang the line ‘’I wanna see The Imitation Game’’ as Taylor Swift.

An io9.com article on the matter of the latest MTV impersonations of Cumberbatch reminds the readers of another great mimic of the actor, who did a ‘’terrifyingly good Jar Jar Binks’’, a fictional character from the Star Wars saga. Although not all the impersonations discussed above were class A, as a whole, Cumberbatch did a great job, considering that he was imposed a sixty seconds time limit. If the upcoming The Imitations Game consisted of such 114 minutes, I believe that Benedict Cumberbatch fans would still consider going, because it would definitely be a fun ride.
