Singer Ed Sheeran is set to play his first ever and biggest headline show at Wembley Stadium connected by EE on Friday, July 10, next year, according to mtv.co.uk. Tickets will be available for pre-sale starting November 26 and for general sale starting November 28. This show at Wembley Stadium will be Ed Sheeran’s s first headline show in the UK since his sold out UK tour earlier this year, where he played in front of 275,000 people, selling out 21 arena gigs, and thus reaching a huge new stage in his career. Steve Tilley, promoter at Kilimanjaro Live Ltd., said: “Ed’s success is an incredible story and it’s just an honour to be involved.”
Regarding his performance at Wembley Stadium, Ed Sheeran said: I’ve made no secret recently of my ambition to play Wembley Stadium on my own in front of 80,000 people, so I am absolutely over the moon to be able to announce it’s going to happen next Summer. It’s going to be amazing, I just can’t wait.’’ The show will be part of his ‘X’ world tour, as he recently scored his second #1 single in the UK with ‘Thinking Out Loud’ from his triple platinum-certified second album ‘x’ (pronounced ‘multiply’): the biggest and fastest-selling album of 2014, which topped the charts in the UK for eight consecutive weeks, as well as hitting the top spot in the US and across Europe, selling over 3 million copies worldwide to date, music-news.com reports. Tickets for O2 priority customers go on sale on November 26, and from November 28 for the general public.
Ed Sheeran recently spoke about people’s perception of his music as being “boring”, after John Giddings, Isle of Wight Festival organizer said that “if Ed Sheeran is the future of festival headliners then we’re all screwed”. The singer responded: “Everyone’s entitled to an opinion… a lot of people think I’m boring – I think other people ore boring. It’s fine and that’s a normal thing to think.”
