Keanu Reeves up for The Panopticon

Dodging bullets, playing devil’s advocate and jumping from speeding buses, Keanu Reeves has enjoyed a steady road to fame and now we are seeing him again on the big screen as a very hardened assassin in John Wick. It seems however that there is no room for leisure as multiple sources have told The Wrap that production company Good Universe have approached Keanu Reeves for a role as the lead in “The Panopticon”. The movie will be helmed by none other than Tarsem Singh, the man who directed The Fall and Immortals. Good Universe did not respond wether the deal is indeed happening or if this is all bogus but the talks are still in a very early stage.

“The Panopticon” is an action- thriller which follows an average Joe who receives a mysterious package containing a pre-recorded message of himself saying that the world will end and only he can save it. He must race against the clock to piece together the puzzle before all is too late. Sounds pretty straight-forward but knowing Singh’s taste for weirdness and head scratching moments, we’ll surely be getting more than we’ve bargained for. The talks for Keanu Reeves have only just begun but it would be nice to see Reeves play the grounded man once more just like his Mr. Anderson in the Matrix. The film’s script is penned by the Quiet Ones scribe Craig Rosenberg. Producing “The Panopticon” will be Andrew Lazar (Get Smart, Mortdecai) . Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane of Good Universe will executive produce the movie. It would be interesting to see the chemistry between Keanu Reeves and Tarsem Singh regardless of the result. Singh is loved by some for his deep symbolism in his movies while others tend to not like his directing style.

Keanu Reeves’s latest film, John Wick has received positive reviews and has made good money at the box office. Even without the Panopticon” deal, Keanu Reeves still has a lot on his plate. He just finished filming the drama “The Whole Truth” and the horror movie “Knock Knock”. The actor is currently filming the indie film “Daughter of God” and is set to star in the sci fi flicks “Replicas” and “Passengers”. The movie currently has no release date.
