Call of Duty past $10 billion in franchise revenue

Call of Duty is a military shooter game most gamers know like the palm of their hands and some have even become bored by it. Nonetheless, it seems that Call of Duty is becoming one of the best selling video games of the century. Since the first Call of Duty, launched in 2003, the 11 year old franchise has collected over $10 billion in revenue.

Call of Duty has brought in revenues past $10 billion to Activision and its partners, more than movies like Hunger Games, Shutter Island, Transformers and even Batman movies. The immense success of Call of Duty culminates in the 2014 launch of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which surpassed book, movie and music album launches of the year when it came to revenue. Even though Activision hasn’t said how many copies of Advanced Warfare they’ve sold so far, company exec Bobby Kotick believes that the game will become the best selling video game of 2014, which is quite likely based on these numbers.

Even though many said about Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare that it was becoming boring, helped only by the voice acting and character of Kevin Spacey, the game still probably sold as well as possible. The new installment in the franchise was launched earlier this month for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. Advanced Warfare was developed by Activision in collaboration with Sledgehammer Games, focusing on new special features and missions.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare retails for $60 and is available for PlayStation, Xbox and even PC. Those who are interested in the supposed best selling game of the year should know that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is a game that takes place in the future, when everything is under martial law. If you are into first person shooters and online games, and don’t mind Kevin Spacey playing the crucial bad guy (as usual), you should definitely see what Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is all about.
