The iPhone 6 can actually play 4K videos, even though Apple hasn’t officially announced that new feature. Users have found that they had no issues playing 4K videos on the iPhone 6 or the 6 Plus and we are wondering why Apple didn’t make a big deal out of this. According to tests done by WALTR, the iPhone 6 can both play and record 4K videos, as long as you have the appropriate apps.
The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus can play 4K video thanks to the A8 chip Apple decided to choose as the brand new CPU for the handsets. Even though you can’t get 4K videos directly from iTunes, you can use other apps in case you want to enjoy the high resolution of the phone.k videos tend to be very large in size, so those of you who bought 16 GB iPhone 6 units might not want to abuse the new-found feature, otherwise they will run out of space on their devices faster than they would expect.
Even though Apple tends to be secretive about their phones’ specs, we find it odd that the company didn’t mention that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus can actually play 4K videos, not just record them. Nonetheless, we are glad to see that high resolution displays are being put to good use. It’s a bummer that iPhone 6 users can’t get 4K footage from iTunes, but there are many other video sharing apps you can access, including the one from WALTR, that give you access to 4K videos you can enjoy on your Apple handset.
While the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus launch were smooth, we can’t say the same thing about iOS 8. iOS 8 came out filled with bugs and issues, much like Android 5.0 Lollipop. Luckily, Apple rushed to fix the issues with subsequent updates, which actually made matters worse. Nonetheless, iOS 8.1 fixes most of the crucial issues users have been experiencing with their iPhone 6, iPhone 5S, iPad or iPad Air units. Maybe the last iOS 8.1 update was the trigger in 4K video replay on the iPhone 6, but we can’t be sure about that since Apple didn’t mention anything of the sort.
