Oscar Isaac is going to join the mutant fray but not as a friend. The American actor has been confirmed for the role of Apocalypse, the villain which will appear in the next X-Men movie, X- Men: Apocalypse. The name is pretty straight forward, isn’t it? This is a direct sequel to the last movie Days of Future Past which premiered recently and was a huge box office hit as it earned a sum of 745 million dollars worldwide. Bryan Singer is set to direct the next installment marking this his fourth entry in the franchise.
Apocalypse has never appeared in movies but he is considered one of the most dangerous and most popular foe of the mutant team. His origins in the comics are awesome, to say the least. Apocalypse is an ancient Egyptian mutant and probably the very first to have powers. Even his original name of “En Sabah Nur” means “The First One” .The movie has been described by Singer to have “more of the mass destruction that ‘X- Men’ films, to date, have not relied upon”.Apocalypse fits the bill perfectly for such a feat. It will be fun to see how this will play out and whether there will be any changes to his upbringings. The more complex the story behind the villain, the more complex he will be. Oscar Isaac looks like he’ll handle the role with ease, as the actor is very underrated and those are usually the ones to look out for. He showed great talent in Inside Llewin Davis and his casting in the next Star Wars film indicate that Isaac may finally be getting his earned break.
The script is being penned by Simon Kinberg, the writer responsible for Days of Future Past and X- Men: The Last Stand. The story for the current movie is set in the 1980’s and it’s been shared with us that Twentieth Century Fox is looking for younger actors to portray several X-Men characters. Oscar Isaac will be joining Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Hugh Jackman. X- Men: Apocalypse will be released by Fox on May of 2016.
