Rachel McAdams apparently likes weird and poetic philosophies and if she doesn’t, then she’ll get her fill with True Detective. The actress has been confirmed by HBO to star in the upcoming second season of the acclaimed show. The setting for the second season will be entirely different with a whole new cast and plot. Basically a fresh start.Creator Nick Pizzolato has been praised for his complex and haunted characters and for his keen talent of hiding the forest behind the woods. That’s what he did with the first season of True Detective . He essentially threw us a crime story that dragged us into its rabbit hole until we came out not with a good cop drama, but with an excellent bit of existential television.
A slew of rumors circled the web for a while regarding other actors who would be attached to the show and the Rachel McAdams theory proved to be true. The actress will join Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch, Colin Farrell and Kelly Reilly. The story that will fuel this season is still a mistery although the cable network gave us the surface story: “Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.” That’s not much to go on yet, but as we can see the cast is shaping up into something very interesting.Fans of the first season did not expect Vince Vaughn, who was thought by many to stick to the comedic lane,to get a serious role.Yet we weren’t expecting Matthew McConaughey either, were we?And look what we’ve gotten. Rachel McAdams’s character will be Ani Bezzerides, a ruthless detective that butts heads with everyone in her path. More details regarding her role in the season still are under wraps.
The second season of True Detective will be set in California thus departing from the swamps of Louisiana and greeting the West Coast.Rachel McAdams has worked with Vince Vaughn in the past, specifically in Wedding Crashers so maybe a chemistry between the two actors has already been established. All eight episodes were written by Nick Pizzolatto and Justin Lin( Fast and Furious) will helm the first two episodes. The series is currently still in production in California.True Detective will begin airing again in the summer of 2015.
