Selena Gomez gives her best performance yet at 2014 AMAs

On Sunday, November 23rd, the 2014 American Music Awards edition was broadcasted live from the Nokia Theater L.A and featured over 16 performances from fans’ favorite artists, like One Direction, Iggy Azalea & Charli XCX, Lorde, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Mary J.Blige to name a few. But let’s focus on Selena Gomez’s performance for a moment because I would dare to say that this was her best one yet. Selena looked very emotional while singing her newest single ‘The heart wants what it wants’, a song that is rumored to be about her tumultuous relationship with Justin Bieber. By the end of the song, looking heartbroken, she seemed to whisper “Thank you, Jesus”.

Selena Gomez appeared on stage in a simple, beige chiffon gown designed by Giorgio Armani and stood in place while singing, as the screen behind her displayed  visual effects, images changing from stormy clouds to exploding roses, shattering glass and a set of wings. In an introduction for her song, Selena Gomez said: “When I was on stage and I was thinking of… I felt like I know… I know him, though, and I know his heart and I know what he wouldn’t do to hurt me. But I didn’t realize that feeling so confident and feeling so great about myself and then to just be completely shattered…” Selena’s performance certainly moved viewers, but her best friend, Taylor Swift, also seemed to be affected by the emotional moment.

On a happier note, Selena Gomez also impressed with her sense of fashion at this year’s AMAs. She appeared on the red carpet in a dramatic, black Armani Privé gown with a show-stopping plunging open back. During her performance, she wore a simple, beige chiffon gown designed by Giorgio Armani, and later, she changed into a plunging black gown and looked as elegant and sophisticated as ever.
