Wonder Woman’s lead actress Gal Gadot will be directed by TV alum Michelle MacLaren, credited for helming several episodes of Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. The confirmation came from The Hollywood Reporter and, up until now, the prospects for this flick are looking mighty good.MacLaren is considered to be a veteran when it comes to television and her ability to make us focus on what is key in the story is essential in any visual narrative. It remains to be seen how well she will adjust to a non serialised format.Indie films are a bonus but big budget blockbusters are another thing.
Without a doubt, Wonder Woman has cemented herself to the core of pop culture being in a league that encompasses Batman, Superman and other iconic superheroes. Now that the movie is finally picking up pace, we still need to know who are the writers for the script as they are currently unknown. Gal Gadot’s appearance as Wonder Woman, however, will not be in her standalone film but actually in 2016’s Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice. Wonder Woman’s original debut was in DC Comics and told the story of Amazonian warrior Princess Diana of Themyscira.Yes she is an amazonian and yes she has super powers. It remains to be revealed if the superhero’s origins will be followed to the tee but if they want to keep her reputation intact, then they will change her background as little as possible.Only producer Charles Roven let a little information slip regarding Wonder Woman’s parentage saying that she is indeed the daughter of Zeus. First we had powered up aliens in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and now he have demigods. Poor Batman.
Michelle MacLaren has been approached by Warner Bros. in August for a possible offer to helm Wonder Woman. The studio actively sought a female director to efficiently portray the heroine as a male director probably wouldn’t do the movie any justice. Producing the movie are Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven. This is the third movie to be released in the new DC shared universe along with Batman v Superman.Wonder Woman is currently set to premiere in June of 2017.
