Gionee W900 is the first smartphone with two 1080p displays

Gionee is currently famous for the Gionee Elife S5.5 and Elife S5.1 as being the second and third thinnest phones on the market. The Gionee Elife S5.1 used to be the thinnest smartphone on the market measuring only 5.1 mm in thickness, but it has been surpassed by the Oppo R5, which is only 4.9 mm thick. This time, Gionee is going to become famous for a much more spectacular feature: two 1080p screens on one smartphone. The Gionee W900 is going to be the first smartphone to tout two high resolution displays in the world.

The Gionee W900 is going to be a clamshell smartphone, a type of phone popular in Asian regions, although not that much outside of them. In any case, what’s more special about the Gionee W900 is that it has two 1080p displays, one internal and one external one. Both these displays are 4 inches in size and both have the same 1080*1920 resolution, which is not bad at all. Consequently, both have 550 ppi pixel density, as sharp as it gets, in my opinion. What’s more is that the Gionee W900 is pretty decently designed and specced. You’ve got Android 4.4 KitKat running the show, backed by a 1.5 GHz CPU, which is in turn backed by 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. You also get a microSD card slot on the Gionee W900, so storage won’t be a problem.

Gionee W900 is the first smartphone with two 1080p displays

Here’s the Gionee W900, as seen at TENAA, with two 1080 displays.

The phone’s chassis weights 178 grams and is just 14.8 mm thick with the clamshell closed. If you’re wondering about camera, Gionee put a pretty decent 13 MP shooter on the rear and 5 MP sensor on the front, so this will surely not be a disappointment. What’s worrisome is that it only has a 2500 mAH battery, which to me seems small considering the fact that it has to power two high definition 4 inch displays. Currently we don’t have the Gionee W900 release date or price at hand, but we’re sure to follow-up on this one, since it’s quite the interesting clamshell. It’s currently certified by TENAA, but there’s no word on whether this will be available overseas. With regard to the Elife line, we’re fairly sure this won’t make it to the US, though.
