iPhone 5c, the cheapest Apple flagship, will be discontinued soon

The iPhone 5c was released in September 2013, which means it has had little time to run its course. The iPhone 5c is a cheaper alternative to the iPhone 5 or iPhone 5s with a plastic chassis inferior to the metal unibody Apple fans have been used to. Even though it has just had a year to enjoy fame, the iPhone 5c will be discontinued in 2015. Apple’s current line-up of smartphones consists of the iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, so we were expecting at least one of them to get booted from production.

Apple is planning to discontinue the iPhone 5c in the second or third quarter of 2015, just before alleged production of the upcoming iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 begins. The iPhone 5c is the cheapest and least popular smartphone from Tim Cook and co, the one lacking TouchID out of the current line-up. Once the iPhone 5c is out of production, we will surely be able to correlate with fresh rumors about the upcoming iPhone 6S or iPhone 7, since many news outlets are fairly sure that Apple will be releasing a new phone in Fall 2015.

The iPhone 5c is the cheapest iPhone form Apple and you can still get it for the price of $450 unlocked, which is still pretty expensive considering the fact that the iPhone 5c is pretty outdated. The only advantage of the iPhone 5c I can think of is that it is available in pink, yellow, blue, green and white. Otherwise, iPhone 5c specs and design are outdated, especially since everybody is now set on getting metal phones that look and feel great. Compared to the iPhone 6, the iPhone 5c resembles a toy phone, even though it still has decent specs compared to its predecessors. Nonetheless, if you want the cheapest Apple flagship possible, the iPhone 5c is your ideal option. Mark my words, though, it’s not worth it. You can get the Galaxy Alpha for that price. And it has a metal frame, bigger display and better specs.
