Ubisoft Apologizes for Bugs in Assassin’s Creed Unity

Yannis Mallat, the chief executive of the Ubisoft studios responsible for the latest Assassin’s Creed title, has emailed an apology to the game’s players and fans for the bugs that have slipped through testing and have sometimes ruined their gaming experience, BBC News reports. According to the message, this was a humbling experience for him and the company. Besides, to placate the game’s fans, the company has decided to offer the game’s first DLC, Dead Kings, free for everyone.

The launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity was a highly-anticipated moment for me and for our development teams around the world, who dedicated a tremendous amount of energy, passion and skill to the game’s creation. […] Unfortunately, at launch, the overall quality of the game was diminished by bugs and technical issues. I want to sincerely apologize on behalf of Ubisoft and the entire Assassin’s Creed team. These problems took away from your enjoyment of the game, and kept many of you from experiencing the game at its fullest potential.

The latest game in the Assassin’s Creed universe is set in the times of the French Revolution. The number of issues experienced by players was rather high, including moments when the main character of the game (controlled by the player) would suddenly fall through the ground, become stuck in hay carts or be blocked by completely invisible walls. Besides, there are moments when parts of the character’s face disappear. On top of that, the game has issues with its frame rate and sometimes it unexpectedly crashes.

Ubisoft has already released three sets of fixes for the game to repair at least some of the bugs – details about the issues fixed by the patches can be found here. Mallat has also asked the players to keep the feedback flowing toward the company, so that Ubisoft can fix all issues and provide a great gaming experience to its fans.
