Girl Scouts are getting with the times apparently. Who knew that these kids would go digital? That would be the case as Girl Scouts of the USA have announced this Monday that a new way of getting your tasty snacks will be available. Online.
This new platform called Digital Cookie was not put together mainly for our leisure but for the girl scouts who are part of this initiative as well. This idea is about getting girls interested in computers at a young age and to teach them five essential skills and those are to set a goal, to make decisions, to manage money, to be socially active and to understand business ethics. Plus they get the chance to learn about online marketing. Of course, this program does take safety precautions. No important information of the girl scout is made available through this online platform and parents must approve their child’s actions on Digital Cookie. Furthermore, the interface will be implemented only by a council’s decision. This will not happen everywhere. Girl scouts are the only ones able to initiate the order by mailing the recipients and thus only said customer has access to the repective girl scout’s profile. If the profile link is sent to another person, the girl scout’s page is broken. This insures that no other individual can intrude. So, in order for you to actually order chocolate cookies online, you need to get ahold of a Girl Scout in person.
The girls who will take part of Digital Cookie will take orders through a special app. And if you don’t have cash then thankfully the girl scouts come prepared with a card reader. We sure are living in interesting times.Being the inaugural for Digital Cookie, it’ll take up until next year until all US council get on board.Over 1 million girl scouts are expected to sell cookies through this platform. Better have your card ready.
