The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 Google Play Editions has been once again delayed by the company. Even though both HTC and Google assured customers that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update would be on its way by the time we enter the festive month of December, it seems there are some issues with the credibility of these companies as of late.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop update rollout was planned as a slow one, but we didn’t expect so many delays factoring into that rollout. First, the original Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Nexus line of devices was delayed due to Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and battery draining issues, after which HTC announced that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the HTC One M8 and One M7 Google Play editions will be delayed, and now Google has once again notified people that the update for the metal-clad devices would not be rolling out yet.
Initially, Google wasn’t content with the Android 5.0 Lollipop builds HTC had submitted and delayed the rollout until December 1, but that day has passed and owners of the One M8 and One M7 are still not seeing any OTAs lighting up their phones. This time, the Android 5.0 Lollipop builds from HTC haven’t been approved because the company is reportedly very busy and has an impossible schedule, according to Mo Versi, HTC VP of Product Management. An exact release date for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for HTC devices has not been disclosed, yet, but HTC is hoping their builds would be approved by the end of the week.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop update rollout has been slow, but at least most Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 devices have received their OTAs. Even so, the new mobile OS from Google is not yet completely perfected, in my opinion, since it renders the older Nexus devices like the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 unusable because of all the bugs and performance issues. Just as well we have issues with Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, but we hope Google hastens things up a bit and releases a better version of Android 5.0 Lollipop soon. It could be that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update hasn’t rolled out to many scheduled devices yet because the companies are working on fixing the issues the OS has encountered since its launch.
