The Microsoft Lumia 1030 will be the successor of the acclaimed Lumia 1020, rightfully called the best camera smartphone on the market at the moment. Code-named McLaren, the Microsoft Lumia 1030 should make its first appearance in March at the MWC. The new device, and the first to tout the integral Microsoft Lumia name, should impress with its high-end specs, but the most impressive feature of the Lumia 1030 will be its camera, naturally.
Since the Lumia 1020 has been dubbed the best smartphone/camera setup, it should be clear that Microsoft will up the ante with the Microsoft Lumia 1030. While the company hasn’t confirmed the specs and the release date of the Microsoft Lumia 1030, a prototype as well as some leaked reports show off a massive, redesigned camera with a larger camera sensor. Supposedly, Microsoft will greet us with a 50 MP PureView camera with 4th gen short-pulse LED flash. While that by itself is a staggering spec sheet for the Microsoft Lumia 1030, we also heard rumors about Kinect-like gesture input technology making an appearance on the McLaren smartphone.
Keep in mind, that Microsoft hasn’t confirmed these specs of the Lumia 1030, but aside from the Kinect-like feature, most of them sound reasonable and possible. Since the Lumia 1020 is on the best smartphone list of the year, we’re sure the company will release a McLaren that can not only fill those shoes. Microsoft Lumia 1030 specs include an unnamed quad core CPU, backed by 2 GB RAM. The display should end up being a 5 inch 1080p one, but we don’t have confirmation on display size and resolution. The prototype Lumia 1030 aka McLaren has given us enough detail to think that maybe this is the next high-end smartphone to roll off the Microsoft treadmill. Since the release date for the Microsoft Lumia 1030 hasn’t been confirmed, an appearance at MWC is most likely.
