Source Code raises from the bulk of Science Fiction movies and poses the following question: ‘’What would you do if you knew you had less than eight minutes to live?’’ and I raise you another: What would you do if you knew Source Code 2 was opening? Neither today, nor this year, as the project still has many missing pieces to gather in order to form a complete puzzle, but word has it that the sequel is out in the open and with a new director.
The thrilling Sci/Fi movie part two has Anna Foerster attached as director, Variety informs. Source Code 2 would be the first movie directed by the female Foerster, whose career mostly reminds of TV Series like Outlander (2014-2015), Unforgettable (2011-2012) or Criminal Minds (2009-2011). The Source Code 2011 director was Duncan Jones, known from before as the man behind Sci/Fi Moon (2009) and whose name is currently linked to a 2016 movie adaptation of a very popular video game series, Warcraft. So, good luck Miss Anna at filling Duncan’s shoes! This task is likely to become quite a difficult one (without even taking into consideration the pressure of the original Source Code and its popularity among science fiction addicts).
As for the cast, no actors have been attached to the sequel so far. The 2011 movie welcomed Jake Gyllenhaal as lead and Colter Stevens, the man who suddenly woke up in a train while bearing someone else’s identity and a grand mission to accomplish. Female names included actresses like Michelle Monaghan (Christina Warren) or Vera Farmiga (Colleen Goodwin). If the following movie will resort to a real life ”time loop” and recast the Donnie Darko (2001) actor or not is to be decided and the same applies to the plot, as ‘’it’s unclear how the follow-up relates to the first feature’’, Collider observes, but underlines that the same Ben Ripley will return as writer.
