A new Droid is supposedly already in development from Motorola. Even though the Motorola Droid Turbo release date has just passed, it seems the success of the new handset prompted Motorola to try its hand at yet another in the series. The new Droid might actually drop the Droid name from its moniker, but we have no leads on what the future handset will be called. We do know that the new Droid will try to match and even overcome the Motorola Nexus 6. That’s something we’re looking forward to.
The new Droid is rumored to mark the entrance of Motorola into new territory, being a new concept different from the Verizon exclusive Droid line. While the company has stressed the fact that they would be focusing more on their independent smartphones like the Moto G and Moto X, the new Droid we’re talking about might become a separate entity of its own.
According to rumors and sources talking to 9to5Google, the new Droid will end up being the perfect competitor to Motorola’s and Google’s fresh new Nexus 6 which was released in October alongside Android 5.0 Lollipop. Speaking of Lollipop, the best feature the new Droid will supposedly have is a 64 bit Snadpragon 810 CPU. Since Android 5.0 Lollipop is designed to support and take advantage of 64 bit architecture, Motorola would do good to choose the above mentioned Snapdragon processor. Another rumored new Droid spec includes a 5.9 inch QHD display, just like the one on the Nexus 6. While phablets aren’t as popular as makers would like them to be at the moment, the trend is slowly taking hold of smartphone enthusiasts everywhere. I know I have been leaning towards big screens this year, haven’t you?
The new Droid Motorola is supposedly designing will be a first in many aspects. The first to fully take advantage of Android 5.0 Lollipop with the Snapdragon 810 CPU and a first to actually cram in 4 GB RAM as well as a tablet-sized 4000 mAH battery. We do have other handsets from Huawei and Meizu that incorporate batteries this huge, but it hasn’t been as popular with US companies. It seems Motorola is listening to smartphone lovers all around the world and will match their requests with an excellent battery life. While the new Droid sounds interesting to say the least, keep in mind that none of this info has been confirmed by the company itself, so take it with a grain of salt. Even so, a supposed new Droid release date is pegged for June or July 2015, but we are unsure what name the new behemoth will have.
