Project SkyLight allows for PS4 customization

Project SkyLight is the first attempt from Sony at console customization. Project SkyLight Beta was unveiled today over at the PlayStation Blog and the beta looks great so far. The idea behind Project SkyLight is to offer PlayStation 4 owners the possibility of changing the console faceplate and customize the PS4 with whatever kind of design they would like.

Even though Project SkyLight is still beta and at the beginning, with only two different faceplates available, Sony promised that they would be rolling out more and more different faceplates PS4 users would be able to buy. Currently, you can get the Little Big Planet 3 or The Order:1886 faceplates form the store, for $25 each. The faceplates are limited edition at the moment, so you should hurry up and buy them if you want to.

The Project SkyLight faceplate price is pretty reasonable and we expect to see faceplates being sold in bundles with the fresh console in the near future. While we don’t have such offers on hand from Sony yet, we are pretty confident that the company will come up with some clever faceplates that would make buying someone a PlayStation 4 that much greater. Since customization is a big thing for PS owners generally, the fact that the PS4 is already receiving so much support and fanbase demonstrates that it has been a successful launch. Project SkyLight will continue its development and we’re hoping to see a heap more faceplates showing up in the Sony store soon.

Sony promised more faceplates in Project SkyLight and also suggested that they are working on more ways to customize your PS4. While we don’t know what they mean yet, we’re sure to find out in the near future. I think Project SkyLight should bring us some nice Destiny, Orcs Must Die!, Street Fighter V and Fallout New Vegas faceplates. Those would be my choices and I hope they will be made soon. What kind of faceplates would you like to see from Project SkyLight?
