Apple is extending its reach a bit and shows signs of progress. The Apple Watch was one of the company’s announcements along with the iPhone 6 and the iPhone Plus and it was something new for Apple, a smartwatch. This is Apple’s first wearable gadget and according to a recent survey by First Insight, the Apple Watch may very well enter the mainstream as a fashion wearable.
Apple obviously had this strategy in mind and chief marketing officer for First Insight Jim Shea saw the results: “We were very surprised to find that women not only loved the Apple Watch- they were actually willing to pay nearly 50 $ more than market price for the Apple Watch when buying it for themselves. So combining its technological advancements with that of day to day fashion will see an increase in revenue due to newly found interest. After the Apple Watch was unveiled, it appeared on the cover of Vogue China soon followed by a showing off of the product for Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and designer Karl Lagerfeld. Consumers seem to be on the watch (no pun intended) for smartwatches that look a lot like normal ones but have extra features.
The Apple Watch’s design is akin to that of the iPod Nano with a rectangular-shaped screen, a knob and a button. It will come in 2 variants, one with a size of 1.5 inches and with a resolution of 272 x 340 and another with 1.65 inches and a 312 x 390 display. It will be able to receive Facebook updates and will have a series of simplified apps including iMessages, Health, Calendar, Weather, Mail, Photos, Apple Maps etc.Plus it’s compatible with other iOS 8 devices.Pricing wise , the Apple Watch will start from 349 $. The price may prove another advantage for the smartwatch wearable as the Samsung Gear S, one of Apple Watch’s rivals on the market costs 399 $. Although it has positive consumer feedback “the price point got in the way”said Jim Shea. The Apple Watch has a Spring 2015 release date.
