Natalie Portman Gives Up the Job at Steve Biopic

Natalie Portman was rumored to join the team and cast of the Steve Jobs biopic only a few weeks ago. Her possible attachment to a female role in the movie increased expectations that the picture would be saved from the stream of back luck which had been surrounding it for quite some time, but it turns out that the young actress also decided to pass on the biopic, just as numerous co-workers had done before her.

Variety spread the news just yesterday and until now, it seems that no real reason was attached to Natalie Portman’s leaving the offer for the role unattended. Ironically enough, now the list of the actors who parted with a role in the biopic is larger than the one of official casts. With Portman leaving the rumor-zone for a definite ‘’no-no’’, we are left with Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs and Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak. We can at least breathe reassured at the thought that the lead is covered by an Inglorious Basterds (2009), Prometheus (2012) or X-Men actor. Only time will tell if the now attached artists will stick with the project until its release (if that will ever happen) or not. The main part had its share of negative responses from highly appreciated actors. Leonardo DiCaprio created the pattern of main part Job quitters and Christian Bale followed his road – although accepting the role as Steve, he later on returned only to salute the production as he announced to refuse the part in the biopic because it did not fit him as an actor.

As for the female roles in the movie, Jessica Chastain was also rumored to receive a part in Danny Boyle’s movie, but then Natalie Portman came into the picture and all the bets were on her actually sticking to the role. It seems that the Black Swan actress was likely to play the role of Steve Job’s daughter in the film based on Aaron Sorkin’s screenplay and Walter Isaacson’s biography. Now that she refused a role in the Steve Jobs biopic, fans are left to see her as Jane Hammond in the already completed Jane Got a Gun, which will premiere on 4 September 2015.
