ASUS ZenFone 2: the 4GB RAM beast

Within CES 2015 ASUS took the opportunity to announce its second generation of Zenfone devices, the Zenfone Zoom and the Zenfone 2. Of the two devices Zenfone 2 distinguishes itself through the new and improved design and the first 4GB RAM phone. The release of a 4GB of RAM device was bound to happen sometimes I suppose and ASUS is the culprit. The ASUS Zenfone 2 is beautiful on the inside as is on the outside. Having a striking elegant housing with curved lines and narrow edges, a circular pattern on the back cover which is something ASUS usually uses the device looks aesthetically pleasing. Also on the back cover there are a combination of buttons placed on the style LG employs. The chosen screen is a 5.5″ 1920×1080 pixels IPS with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The Zenfone 2 is a premium product which could attract some clientelle.

ASUS and Intel are partners for a long time and this partnership continues still with the Zenfone 2. This time also the Intel solution has been chosen with the following specs: quad-core Intel Atom Z3560 1, 8 Ghz and Z3580 2, 3 Ghz Moorefield. All of these platforms are added by 16, 32 or 64 GB of internal memory with MicroSD expansion up to 64 GB, irremovable 3000 mAh battery and lastly the industry’s novelty, the 4 GB RAM. ASUS Zenfone 2 packs a 13 MP snapper with dual-tone LED flash and FULL HD recording, autofocus, HDR, seconded by a 5MP wide angle front camera useful for panoramic shots. The Zenfone 2 spec list also includes LTE, Dual SIM capability, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, Glonass, 3, 5 mm jack and Wi-Fi 802.11.a/b/g/n/ac, and runs Android 5.0 with the ZenUI. The device is fairly heavy at 170 grams and measures 152, 5 x 77, 2 x 10, 9 mm and starting at $199 without subscription the ASUS Zenfone 2 will be available from March.
