Lenovo P90: A Phablet at CES 2015

Not only did Lenovo announce a premium smartphone, the Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro, it also dazzled the audience with its phablet device, the Lenovo P90. Still is the phablet the same pristine concept as the phone? Let’s have a quick sneak peek to see what Lenovo prepared for the audience.

A look under the hood of the Lenovo P90 shows us quite the resemblance with the Asus ZenFone 2. Both machines run an Intel Atom quad-core CPU at 1.83 GHz, with a PowerVR G6430 GPU. The processing setup on the phablet is backed up by 2 GB of RAM. One of the lows in this case is the storage aspect. It features only one variant, 32 GB without an added microSD card slot. Storage-freaks beware!

The Lenovo P90 gets a 5.5 inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, with a pixel density of 400 ppi (pixels per inch). The handset runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and a massive battery package of 4000 mAh, and it’s not just for show. The handset packs a rear snapper with 13 MP with optical image stabilization, dual LED flash, touch focus, HDR, and can film at 1080p with 30 fps. The front camera tops at 5 MP… still impressive!

The connectivity aspect on the Lenovo P90 is quite a shiny one. In the same mindset as the Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro it features a dual nano-SIM, a 4G LTE connection that can speed up to 150 MB/s in download, Wi-Fi dual-band, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS and GLONASS, microUSB and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Even though it is a phablet, the dimensions on the Lenovo P90 do not give it justice. It is just 156 grams heavy and 8.5 mm thick; considering the beefy battery at 4000 mAh it is quite the feat. Props to Lenovo! The handset will be made available in February with a full retail price of $370, quite the offer if we are to consider the pricing on its little brother the Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro at $500. With all the aspects in mind, the Lenovo P90 has the potential to be a true knocker among phablet enthusiasts!
