LG G Flex 2 officially confirmed at CES 2015

The LG G Flex 2 just made a stunning appearance at CES 2015, with all the details served up with a nice, red ribbon. A quick peek under the hood of this sporty handset shows that LG wanted to make the LG G Flex 2 a want-to-have device, unlike its predecessor.

The aesthetics on the LG G Flex 2 resemble, to a certain point, its predecessor and also incorporate some of the features seen on the LG G3. The curved display is just one of those features and it is offered with a marginally smaller screen and a better resolution, more than welcome I would say.

The LG G Flex 2 is packing a 5.5 inch P-OLED display, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a pixel density of 401 ppi (pixels per inch). To make it look even more premium, LG decided to equip the flexible device with a protective glass that is allegedly 20 % stronger than Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The device will be available in two color options: Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red.

If that doesn’t tickle you, then this next feature should give you the giggles. We are talking about the handset’s ability to repair itself, in a specific way. The LG G Flex 2 is coated in  self-healing material, made available only for the rear encasing, that can render scratches obsolete in just 10 seconds, or so they say. The previous model took quite a bit to do so, roughly 3 minutes… that’s a big step up I would say.

The engine on this new baby is not a bad one either. The chip on the LG G Flex 2 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, while the memory stands at 2 GB of RAM. There are two storage options for this model, namely 16/32 GB, plus a microSD card slot for those storage-freaks.

The rear snapper on the LG G Flex 2 has a 13 MP count and includes Optical Image Stabilization +. The battery is not bad either at 3000 mAh; I wouldn’t have it any less given its display. And get this… it will run straight from the production lines on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Upgrades and improvements all over the place for the LG G Flex 2 it seems. I would say it is a win-win situation for LG on this one as the LG G G Flex 2 will be made available in South-Korea later this month. As for the rest of the world, things at this point are uncertain.
