If you’ve ever played Portal then you’re familiar with the turrets depicted in the game. And maybe you fancied them as objects in your house. It seems that Samsung representatives played this game too because the company launched the 360-degree speakers that look exactly like those turrets mentioned in the Valve game. They seem that they just sprung out of their virtual environment and hopped into reality. To be honest I don’t quite know what to say they look like so I’ll try something like this: Eve from Wall-E met a Portal turret and had an offspring. They’re an interesting mix and look sleek. Or maybe they resemble a pill or a giant egg. I suppose this one is open for debate. Anyway, they come in two variants, movable and non-movable (I called them that way since there is no official designation) and various colours.
The speakers’ shape help them produce immersive sounds that fill the room thanks to Samsung’s Ring Radiator technology. The non-movable stand type version of these robot speakers dubbed WA7500 are designed to be set in one place and left there, may it be hanging from the ceiling or standing near a curved TV or a Tizen Smart TV. The smaller WA6500 version that includes a built-in battery is meant to be carried around or placed and moved where is required. Both the speakers’ variants however can connect to other sound sources and devices through wireless means as both have the Bluetooth logo. That means we’re expecting them to connect to TV’s, mobiles, tablets and soundbars allowing all sound to flow in a 360-degree radius. According to Samsung the speakers with their design can be fitted with any home decor but I think that they’re most suited when you feel like producing a Jetsons spin-off. Both the speakers’ versions will be up for display at the Las Vegas CES 2015
