Top 5 Smartphones of 2015: What should we expect?

With CES 2015 underway we are looking at mind-blowing developments in the world of smartphones, but we have to see the top 5 smartphones of 2015 that everyone is drooling for. The HTC M9, code-named “Hima”, the Samsung Galaxy S6, the Nexus X, the iPhone 7 and the LG G4 are the top contenders for smartphone of the year 2015. But with neither of them making an appearance at CES 2015 the only thing to rely on is rumors.

Considering the HTC One M8 and the advancements in tech that took up until this point the HTC One M9 has to take it up a notch. To be able to squeeze into the top 5 smartphones of 2015 the new HTC should increase its display size to 5.3 inches, with an added resolution increase to 2560 x 1440. Since the handset is rumored to make an appearance in the first quarter of the year the chip we should be seeing is a Snapdragon 805 at 2.7 GHz, backed up by 3 GB of RAM to make things smooth. The camera design for the One M8 was brilliant and the concept should be upgraded to at least 13 Ultrapixels with an added 4k recording option. HTC sense 7 and Android 5.0 are a must.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is one the flagships that might get the most attention. It might just be the most powerful device at the time of its release, so we should expect a 5.2 inch display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and a Snapdragon 808 at 2.9 GHz backed up by 3 GB of RAM. The waterproof and dust-proof features have to stay, while the camera should get upgraded to 16 MP with 4k recording. S health should receive an upgrade and Android 5.0 Lollipop is again a must.

In line of specifications and features the Nexus X should be quite the mind-blower here. The screen size on the last model is just fine, the improvement should be more in the lines of hardware. As such, the thoughts on possible upgrades should revolve around the implementation of a Snapdragon 810 at 3.2 GHz beefed up by 4 GB of RAM. The enhancement of the “Fast Charge” tech should be a priority along side with an increase to 16 or 20 MP on the camera with an f 2/2 aperture lens, and implementation of 4k recording. The version of Android for the Nexus X should be 5.1 considering its rumored release date later in 2015.

The new iPhone, hopefully not another faulty iPhone 6 Plus, has a lot to work if it wants to score into the Top 5 Smartphones of 2015. If Apple wants to keep its customer base it has to work on the lines of surprising people, as such a new concept of iPhone, luckily the iPhone 7, is a must in order to keep up with the competition. A 5 inch screen at 1920 x 1080 is just fine for a new iPhone 7. The Apple A9 processor is the crown jewel that has to be there, while at least 2 GB of RAM are necessary for a smooth run. A built in projector is rumored to come for the new iPhone 7, and boy is that something to be looking forward to. iOS 9 and an improved Touch ID should find their way onto the new device.

The LG G4 has some issues to work out if it is to hold up to its name. An increase to a display size of 5.6 inches and a resolution of 3840 x 2160 should be the main focus points of the upgrades. The Snapdragon 810 at 3.3 GHz with an added 3 GB of RAM should be there to keep things in check, while an increase in battery capacity to at least 3500 mAh is a must, if the device is to keep up with the screen and an increased camera size. Android 5.0 is the natural way to go when talking about the OS on the LG G4.

All in all, rumors and speculations remain what they are, unconfirmed until further notice. It would be nice to see all of this play out, but who knows what the manufacturers have in mind? Guess we will just have to wait and see for the Top 5 Smartphones of 2015.
