Moto X Might be Getting an Android Lollipop Update, but when?

Seeing as the original version of the Moto X still holds some partnership bridges to Google, any update should be making its way to the machine in a timely manner. The most expected upgrade, the one to Android Lollipop 5.0 hasn’t yet rolled out of the factory, nor has the OTA been aired. This is not necessary an indication that Lollipop will not be made available to the Moto X, it is more likely a matter of time until the implementation is fully completed.

The update to the 5.0 version of Android should be on its way considering that the OTA on the Moto X and Moto G 2014 made an appearance. Reportedly, first generation Moto X devices are receiving Android 5.0 updates on their smartphones, but claims are that it is only a test version. This is good news indeed! Public testing means that Google is serious about providing the Moto X with Android 5.0  Lollipop, and that the full-scale release of the upgrade should be around the corner, or so they say.

In some cases, representatives of customer services already claimed that the Moto X received the upgrade to Lollipop, but as evidence suggest, few users have actually witnessed the OTA being aired to their devices. What is then the issue at hand? Why are customer services providing the general public with faulty information? One might think that is something of an ill-play in the middle, but the issue might be that an honest confusion has been made, mixing the 1st generation Moto X with the 2014 variant. If that is the case, then it’s a serious mix-up and customers won’t be happy about the situation. The blame here can be shifted towards the manufacturer as well, considering it decided to give the  exact same name to its second generation of Moto X, creating in the process a huge confusion.

Expectancies are that the Moto X Android 5.0 update will be brought to stage in the following week. To further emphasize on that belief, both the Moto G and the Moto X 2014 have started to receive the update. The update will not however hit every device at once, as it will most likely be done step by step, each region at a time and each carrier at a time. Wishing for the best for those 1st generation Moto X owners and if you have any info on the update sound off in the comments below!
