New teenager has been arrested as part of an investigation in two cyber attacks on the PlayStation and Xbox networks on Christmas day.
The 18 year old was picked up in Southport, England as part of a joint operation between the UK and the FBI. He is being questioned on suspicion of unauthorized access to computer material and threats to kill.
Deputy Chief Constable Peter Goodman, the lead for cyber security at the Association of Chief Police Officers, declared that this should be a warning to all those who commit cyber crime with the belief that they are anonymous online.
“This arrest demonstrates that we will pursue those who commit crime with the false perception they are protected within their own homes or hiding behind anonymous online personas,” Goodman declared to Sky News. He also explained the need for companies and individuals to use high security measures to protect themselves online.
