When talking about 2015’s flagship phones one of the first that comes to mind is the HTC One M9. Having reaped loads of acclamations from critics and users alike with the One M8, HTC is preparing to dazzle the audience once more with their innovations. When will the HTC One M9 be released and what will it pack? Let’s dig up the dirt and see what we find.
On the release date there is a pretty good idea of the when and where. HTC has sent out some invitations for an event that will take place March 1st 2015 at MWC in Barcelona, so the best guess is that the unveiling of the HTC One M9 will be done at that time. The invitation card reads “utopia in progress”, which takes us to the idea that it might be either the code-name of the One M9 or some sorts of new tech on the device.
Several rumors about specs have been emerging about the HTC One M9, some of which sound quite on point. A report coming out of China suggests that the flagship will be getting a 5.5 inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. The chip is said to be a Snapdragon 805, backed up by 3 GB of RAM and a nice, 3500 mAh battery. All of the above mentioned are upgrades to its predecessor, the One M8. There is no surprise when we say that it will run Android 5.0 Lollipop and the camera will most likely top up at 16 MP with Optical Image Stabilization.
An interesting @upleaks update suggest that the HTC One M9 will be given the code-name “Hima”. This is no hot news, as this was rumored some time ago. The interesting news that comes from @upleaks is about the processor. According to their sources Hima will run on an octa-core Snapdragon 810, with four cores at 2.0 GHz, while the remaining four top up at 1.5 GHz. Disappointingly the rumor also suggests that the battery will only juice up to 2840 mAh and the screen will be a 5-inch 1080p, rather than being upgraded to QHD quality. The rumor about the camera suggests a nice 20.1 MP rear snapper and either a 13 MP or a 4 Ultra-Pixel selfie-cam.
We must trust time to reveal all things and in the case of the HTC One M9 “Hima” this saying applies quite well. It would be nice to see all the good parts of the rumors mix up into one super-beast, but then again rumors are still rumors until actually confirmed.
