Another interesting crowdfunding project found on Kickstarter wants to bring us a sleek and stylish way of controlling our smartphone. Dubbed Qmote, this tiny metallic remote control can be used to access functions and features on your smartphone and even control your smart home, provided you have one. At its core, the Qmote is basically a Bluetooth remote control that you can use with your Android or iPhone via a big jack-of-all-trades sort of button. The button, incidentally, the Qmote can have up to 11 different functions programmed into it and these can activate different features on your smartphone ranging from playing some music, act as a remote camera shutter, and activate apps that you need or turn the alarm system to find your phone.
Sporting a certified IPX7 water-resistant metal body and a coin-cell battery than can last 12 months, the Qmote can configure multiple smartphone functions through a downloadable app and the company says that with ongoing firmware updates more features will be added. The Qmote app makes it very easy to set up and use as only a few clicks combination are required to assign different actions to them and that’s much it. The asking price for this little device is $15 if you act fast and catch the early offer or $19 if you miss it, but either way, the price won’t burn a whole in your pocket. Multiple Qmotes can be ordered and naturally you will have to cough up more and you can place your laser-engraved message or logo on the body.
Qmote can be activated via Smart Bluetooth as a presentation device linking to your Windows or Mac computer, can activate your smartphone navigation when the need arises, record video and audio files, take screenshots or cancel the snooze alarm. And it’s all done in a breeze with a lightweight and small enough device to fit with your keys. The $20,000 funding target has to be reached until March for this device to become a reality
