We will be comparing the OnePlus One vs the Google Nexus 5 to help you decide which one is the better buy. We’ll be comparing things like screen size, camera, processor and build quality.
The Nexus 5 is equipped with the beautiful 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, has a 2.3 Ghz Quad Core processor with Snapdragon 800 inside, 2 GB of RAM and either 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage. Unfortunately there is no microSD slot available so you have to struggle with whatever internal storage you choose. The Google Nexus 5 also has Adreno 330 GPU which is great for gaming, a 2.300 mAh battery with 8 MP camera on the back with optical image stabilization, and it’s running stock Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but you can now upgrade to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. It’s available in 3 different colors: white, black and red, and it starts at $350 for the 16 GB version or for $400 for the 32 GB version. For a smartphone that’s almost 2 years old, the Nexus 5 is still one of the most popular Android phones out on the market, due to it’s hardware, software and pricing. Since it’s a Nexus device, you’ll get the latest Android updates the moment they come available, which is probably one of the reasons you wanna get a Nexus 5 (or other Nexus devices) in the first place.
The One Plus One on the other hand sports a gorgeus 5.5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, it’s equipped with a powerfull 2.5 Ghz Quad Core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB or 64 GB of internal storage, but yet again there is no microSD support so you are stuck with whichever version you opt out. It also sports the same Adreno 330 GPU as on the Nexus 5 with a great battery of 3.100 mAh that will last you all day with full usage of the OnePlus One. On the back we have a 13 MP camera with DUAL LED-FLASH that is capable recording 4K video and it’s running stock Cyanogen MOD 11S which is based on stock Android 4.4.4 KitKat. You can get it in 2 colors, but OnePlus is offering different rear shells that people can buy, including different woods and kevlar. The 16 GB version will set you back $300 while the 64 GB version sandstone black is just $350.
The OnePlus One in my opinion is the bast bang for your buck, that is if you can buy one, depending if you are lucky to get an invite. It has similar spec that are on the top of the market for Android devices like the LG G3 and the Samsung Galaxy S5, but for about $300 or $400 less you can buy it without a contract. The only problem is the invite system which is making difficult for people to buy the device, while the Nexus 5 is available for everyone to buy via the Google Play Store.
