The BAFTA ceremony of 2015 was held on Sunday, at the Royal Opera House in London. Boyhood was the movie of the evening, with three different wins, including the title of Best Picture. The second award gained by the drama film went to director Richard Linklater and the other one to supporting actress Patricia Arquette, who played the role of Mom. Although Boyhood seems to be the ultimate recipient of BAFTA, Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel was nominated in no less than 11 categories and left with more awards that the Best Picture. The incomparable and witty adventure comedy left the 2015 BAFTA as recipient of 5 awards, including one for Wes Anderson’s Original Screenplay.
Other important prizes were gained by actress Julianne Moore, who was awarded in the category Best Actress for her impressionable role in Still Alice. Eddie Redmayne, on the other hand, left as recipient of the Best Actor award for his role as Stephen Hawking in the love drama The Theory of Everything. A great surprise of BAFTA was probably The Lego Movie, which was awarded in The Animated Film category, although the Oscars decided not to leave the movie as nominee of that same category.
