There is no mystery anymore that the Android Wear smartwatches haven’t exactly rocked anyone’s world thus far and as such sales aren’t that impressive. But after six months since they are on the market although sales have been slow this doesn’t seem to discourage producers though. LG hasn’t put the dot on the map with the G Watch but things seem to get better with the G Watch R as the latter being one of the most interesting wearables on the market and this is good news for LG. Lately however, the next wearable dubbed Watch Urbane wants to add some elegance and class and superior finishing touches. This is a great drive in development since there aren’t many smartwatches that seem to border on sophistication instead relying on rubber or plastic.
On first look, the new LG Watch Urbane isn’t new at all but merely a revamped version of the G Watch R, but as said, things aren’t as straightforward as they seem. Watch Urbane sports a 1, 3 inch P-OLED 320 x 320 pixel round screen. Hardware-wise, a 1, 2 Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 beats inside it with a 512 MB RAM, 4 GB of internal memory and a 2-day long autonomy coming from a 410 mAh battery. Added on top of these there is the specific array of sensors that any decent smartwatch must have: gyroscope, barometer, accelerometer, heart sensor, but sadly, no GPS module. Android Wear is on top of the device. Pretty much stays the same as the G watch R, but unlike this model the Watch Urbane comes in a metal casing which is pleasing to the eye.
That doesn’t mean that Watch Urbane is left without IP67 certification, making the device both dustproof and water resistant. The H2O repelling power lasts up to 1 meters underwater for a period of 30 minutes and this makes the watch more than a device used for just telling the time. Available on either silver or gold, the metal casing follows a traditional design with a narrow bezel and the detachable 22 mm elegant leather strap. The LG Watch Urbane is set to emerge after two weeks during the Mobile World Congress 2015 but no word on pricing and availability yet…
