The Russo Brothers have been rumored to direct the two Avengers: Infinity War movies for a period of time, but the news has just now passed from rumor to certainty. It was made official that Joe and Anthony Russo are set to direct both parts of the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War movies, according to Variety. Joss Whedon supporters should not sadden, given the fact that Avengers: Age of Ultron is soon to be released in theaters.
No matter how much you enjoyed the 2012 released Avengers (and you will probably appreciate the upcoming Age of Ultron) and thus, the work of director Joss Whedon, the Russo brothers might not be such a bad choice either. First things first, they are not Marvel freshmen: the Russo team has already directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which was released in the US on 4 April 2014. What is more, the names of the Russo brothers are attached to the following Captain America based picture, entitled Captain America: Civil War, which is currently in the pre-production stage and which will be released in 2016.
Avengers: Infinity War – Part I will be released in 2018, with Avengers: Infinity War – Part II coming the following year, in 2019. These being said, the Russo brothers will eventually be attached to four Marvel movies, more than any director before. With Joss Whedon, we had the first two Avengers (2012 and 2015) and Jon Favreau directed only the first two Iron Man movies (in 2008 and 2010). From now on, Avengers supporters will have no other choice than correlating the name of their favorite franchise with the Russo brothers. With Avengers: Age of Ultron being released on the 1 May 2015, film-goers will get a sample of what the Avengers used to be and of what their favorite heroes will become along with the Russo brothers and the two Infinity Wars.
