Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is keeping fans at the edge of their seats until 2016, but bits of what seem to be an unavoidable and grandiose clash of titans are now available to watch. Variety reports that the official release of Batman v Superman teaser trailer was set as an Imax special event for Monday, April 20, but lucky us! We get to enjoy the trailer days before due to a leak. It seems that the first and leaked version of the teaser was a phone cam resolution video, with Portuguese subtitles.
Caring about the reaction of Batman v Superman fans, director Zack Snyder tweeted the video on Friday with the specification ‘’not pirated’’. No matter the leak and earlier official release, Mister Snyder assures the scheduled screenings of the trailer will take place, with “a few extra shots plus a little swag.”
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer introduces Henry Cavill as Clark Kent and Superman, with opponent Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne and Batman. Superman’s status is set from the beginning of the trailer: the superhero is depicted as the most powerful man in the world. The plot of the DC heroes picture is, however, based on the way people around the globe react and interpret his god-like statues. The question is put from the very beginning: ‘’Is it really surprising that the most powerful man in the world should be a figure of controversy?” The following lines in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer are a manifest of those different opinions. ‘’Devils don’t come from Hell beneath us… but they come from the sky’’ sounds like a menacing and apocalyptic conclusion. ‘’Go home!’’ they shout and “False God’’ they write.
In the second bit of the trailer, Batman takes control over the audio and the visual and the outrage of the entire world seems to be broadcast through his words: ‘’Tell me, do you bleed?’’ marks the Batman – Superman short, but symbolic dialogue, with Batman staring up in the sky at a floating Superman. ‘’You will”, answers Batman to his own, Superman-directed, but rhetoric question.
