Running is one of the best cardio workouts you can do, however it can also be very boring especially if you do all your running on a treadmill in the gym, but don’t worry! There are things that you can do to make your run less boring and we are here to help you. Don’t forget to keep your runs fun.
1. Set running dates
Run with a friend. It both keeps you preoccupied and challenged.
2. Join a running group
For sure there are running groups in your community. Join up and make new running mates.
3. Change up your route
Running around the same place everyday doesn’t keep you motivated. Look for new places to run to keep things fresh.
4. Join a race
Joining a race keeps you motivated to train. It doesn’t have to be a full marathon. Join an interesting one with a theme to keep it fun.
5. Do variations
Don’t run at the same pace and for the same distance every time. Do intervals that makes it challenging not only for your body but also for your mind.
6. Make a playlist
Make your personal running playlist that will keep you pumped all throughout your run. You can even just listen to your favorite podcast.
7. Focus on your form and breathing
This keeps your mind preoccupied. Think of your posture, keep your core tight and how your feet land on the ground. You might even notice any mistakes you are making.
8. Cover the treadmill monitor
If you do have to run on a treadmill, cover the monitor. Your run just seems to take forever if you keep looking at it, also make use of the preset programs such as interval training and hill climbs.
9. Watch your favorite TV Show
If you’re on a treadmill, you can watch your favorite TV show and don’t stop until it’s done. Just don’t forget to still be aware of what you are doing.
10. Try running on a trail
Running on a trail can be very challenging. Try it out. One thing for sure, you’ll get super fit.
